My family and I are considering planning a trip for my sister who was diagnosed with a rare and progressive cancer. The prognosis is not very good. She is currently taking chemo and somewhat "healthy". She is still able to travel, but can't walk long distances. She is a HUGE country music lover and the most caring individual (not just saying that b/c she is sick :o). We want to do something special for her. I'm looking for suggestions on places to stay and places to sightsee. We have never been to Nashville and don't know anything about the city. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

What a wonderful idea for your sister! Here are some things you should definitely consider if coming to Nashville....Grand Ole Opry, Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, Ryman Auditorium (see a show or take a tour). If you stay downtown - depending on your budget, all these hotels are within walking distance to restaurants, bars and attractions - Sheraton, Hilton, Renaissance, Holiday Inn Express. Both the Ryman & Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum are downtown - Grand Ole Opry is at Opryland which is about a 10 minute drive (depends on traffic). Opryland is another great place to visit - or stay. It's gorgeous - but keep in mind there can be a lot of walking. Also just strolling up and down Broadway (main street through downtown Nashville) is fun. You can easily walk in / out of honky tonk bars and there's always live music playing. Another option is to check out the General Jackson Showboat - it offers both midday and evening entertainment cruises.
Best of luck to your sister - I wish her well!
