I was wondering a few things about moving to the Nashville area. We are looking at moving to the area in mid 08, but have no idea as to where to start looking. We dont want to be more than 30 or 45 mins away from downtown, Does anyone have anysuggestions? We are looking in the 100,000 to 150,000 price range. I have not heard much about Goodlettsville but what I did hear was not good. We plan on visiting around Christmas time to see what the area is like since I have never been.
We also have a dog and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to where I would be able to find out if the Nashville area has any breed bands?? We have a terrier mix ( supposed to be Pit Bull/ shepard mix)
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Stacey

To get you started, you should use the drive time maps at:
http://www.nashvillesmls.com/drive-time-map.php
This will give them an overview of the 45 minute drive time to Nashville and narrow down to search to specific areas. Then, you can create your own search profile at www.nashville.com/realestate which will enable you to see the distribution of homes in your price range.
With regards to banned breeds I’m not aware of any but I do know that some insurance companies will not insure homes that have a “problem” dog on the premises.

Not sure about neighborhoods, but I know the Nashville Metro Parks Department has a ban for its parks. It states: "Agressive dogs prohibited. Agressive dogs, Pit Bulls or dogs having the characteristics of the Pit Bull Breed, are not allowed in Metro Parks' Dog Parks."

Thanks for the info. I did read somewhere that Hamilton Creek Park was desiginated for pitts is that true? I also read that there was alot of indecent exposure going on at this park, Is it a safe place to go? I am sure that while we are in the area for Christmas I won't be going with out my husband, but just in general is it an ok area?

Hi Ashley,
considering your price range i'd suggest bellevue, east nashville,
crieve hall would be the areas to check out..
