Hey, I heard that Nashville actually has a history of R&B talent that started at WLAC, Nashville's 50,000 watt radio station. Amongst the talent that arised from Nashville included Billy Cox, Jimi Hendrix's bass player. I would love to learn more about this since I thought Nashville just was known for country music.
Back in 2004 & 2005, The Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum held the exhibit: Night Train to Nashville: Music City Rhythm & Blues, 1945-1970. You may want to contact them to see if there's anything similiar to this event coming up soon. You can reach them here: 615-416-2001
