Delly -

I guess we better tell Nashville to watch out for the crazy Irish gals!! :) Yes, of course Nashville is a great place for holiday. I'd suggest to definitely stay in the downtown area - especially if you're drinkers so you don't have to drive.... Rates however can be pretty much on the high-end, but there is a Holiday Inn Express within walking distance to everything and that might be the cheapest place to stay.

Once you're downtown, you can hit all the "honky-tonk" bars and, uh, well drink! There's always live music - day or night - and no cover charge. Also within the downtown area is the Country Music Hall of Fame, Musician's Hall of Fame and Museum, Frist Center for Visual Arts, Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Tennessee State Museum and if you want to catch any big shows, the Ryman and Sommet Center are right there. Oh yea, and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) is also in the area.

If you want to spend an entire day at an all American mall - head over to the Opry Mills Mall which is about 20 mins from downtown Nashville. There are tons of stores, lots of restaurants, an arcade, bowling (yes, bowling!) and an IMAX theater. Wear comfortable shoes! Also the Green Hills Mall is very nice place to go shopping and it's about 15 minutes from downtown.

Where did you stay in California?

Hope this all helps you with your planning!
