G'day all, I've been forever searching for places to move to, and Nashville is on my shortlist.
I'm from Australia, and moving over to live and work for a bit (yes I have my working visa!). I recently graduated, but would be looking to do work in retail/hospitality or something where I get to socialize with your great people.

I'd like to know of some areas to look at which would be walkable/ridable/skateable to pretty much anything. I won't be buying a vehicle. So somewhere close by to 'downtown' I guess, where I would plan to work, and where I can just walk to buy groceries and also go to bars and the like.

Thanks in advance and look forward to your responses.

Wow! What an adventure- all the way from around the world to Nashville! Great for you! Look into East Nashville, around Vanderbilt University, Hillsboro Village. There are plenty of hip places to live, but you are going to need some kind of transportation. Check out nashvillemta.org/ How did you get a working visa without a job? I didn't think you could do that - thought you had to have a job and your company then sponsors you in order to get a working visa ??

Hi, thanks for the reply!

Just to clear things up, there are companies that offer to give you working visa's if you are a recent graduate. These companies are the same ones that sponsor you, as they have partnerships with a number of other companies and organisations in the USA.

In saying that, do you really believe I need a car to get around? I don't mind if I can only work to and from work, shopping and some nightlife, and never able to walk elsewhere. I'm hoping those opportunities to venture outside of my restricted walking areas would arise when I make some local friends?

What's your budget? If you live downtown (expensive) or close enough you can likely get by without a car. Get a bike or a scooter if you need to.
