What happened to Channel 4's Tim Ross?
Thanks for asking - we have done a little research and felt no one could explain better then Mr. Tim himself.....please see a special note from him further down this thread. Mr Tim now has his own blog on Nahville.com
http://www.nashville.com/mrtim ;)
Nashville.com wishes him the all the best! We know he will be sorely missed, yet we are excited to see he has lots in store for his future (twangtowntv.com) And hey Tim, please NEVER lose your characteristic "fun and people stuff" - or your lighthearted style which is all your own. I see no reason why anyone would try to change something which was perfect. All the best to you to Mr. Tim! ~ Joanne

I read all of the info on his website but still don't know what has happened?

I see what you mean...just yesterday he had a 'special note' on the front page of his site which is now mysteriously missing. To sum it up.....and darn I do not like doing this b/c I read it so quickly and now can't use as a reference and certainly don't want to give incorrect informaton.... that he was looking to move on since to me it appeared his job was consuming his life (very long days - - although he was always happy and grateful for his career). When he told them he was going to leave, the station let him go.....that same day!! In addition, apparently the station was not enthusiastic with the way Mr. Tim presented the weather news. As we all know, he had his own style. So now he is going to focus on other things which I believe is public speaking as well as his new site twangtowntv.com

I thought he made the weather news fun to listen to. I feel there is a huge hole where he used to stand. Good Luck to him.

When Mr. Tim was with his previous station, I didn't really care for his style. When he move to WSMV though, he grew on me and I enjoyed seeing him every morning. What a great guy. I wish him well in whatever he does.

What a tremendous loss to WSMV for a natural loss of Dan Miller...we still carried on with your station as a advid follower of "The Dan and Demitria team." But without Tim Ross in the morning show, and knowing it was probably more WSMV' decision....our family will no longer be watching your news casts at any time! He had such a talent, and yes sometimes I do believe news anchors should not bring in their own opinion/viewpoints/comments to the anchor desk...they do!!!! By all means Holly and stiff aaron should have been fired ages ago.

Mr. Ross will be missed. My company office has a television in it and EVERY day from 5am till 1pm we had it on Channel 4 because we all liked the way the weather was presented.I have been a fan for years since his days at Fox. I wish all the best. Sincerely, No longer watching Channel 4

Tim got canned by Fox 17 then,if memory serves, filed a lawsuit.
Does anyone know if this is correct? What was the outcome? (Probably an out-of-court settlement.)

http://nashville.com/forums/images/tim1.jpgWow! Where do I begin? How about at the beginning of the end! It happened a few weeks ago. I resigned from WSMV. I offered to work until they found my replacement but the station management opted to end our TV relationship that same day!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at channel 4. Some days much more than others, of course. I can't tell you how much I love Holly, Aaron, Jennifer and Tommy (He's the guy I talked to off camera). All of them, and the crew in the background, are the best in the business! To a person they are truly wonderful human beings. Just an awesome eight years! Lifetime friendships were created. It was hard to walk away.* I liked the company. I really didn't want to have to do it!* I had no choice.
Why did I do it? Great question. Tough answer.
Reason #1— My "style" of broadcasting was being discouraged more and more. It just isn't where they want to take their morning show. And, whether I like it or not... it's totally their call to make. It's their company.
Reason #2— The work schedule was my undoing. I was out of bed at 2:00am and often still at the TV station chasing storms after 2:00pm. The morning shift often gets caught in the squeeze as storms start developing midday. And, throw in the evening severe weather seminar appearances on top of that!* As much as I enjoyed doing the seminar presentations and meeting the folks, I just couldn't keep up with the schedule. And, of course, there is the 24/7/365 on-call status for severe weather.*With storm warnings these days being thrown out like candy at a Christmas parade, we are constantly in "severe weather" mode. The stress of that alone takes soooo much out of you.
Put that all in the hopper and there wasn't much room left for life, my wife and my health. That work schedule leaves absolutely no room for error or correction. It's very unforgiving! The fatigue it produced over time was overwhelming. I just couldn't do it anymore! There was no refuge.* Eight years left me completely spent.**And my workload and job responsibilities were increasing. I just didn't have any gas left in the tank and my mental and physical health were going downhill in a hurry. Thankfully, five weeks later, I've recovered considerably and feel much better. I no longer feel like I'm upside-down.
Where am I going? Nowhere. This is home. We love this place. And I'm glad you asked. I'm open to any and all possibilities—TV Weather and/or News included. I'm unemployed... I'm open to any good opportunity! I'm pursuing my seminar/speaking and media training interests.*Need a speaker at a luncheon, banquet or organizational meeting, etc?* I'm your man!* Please pass the word!* Heck, I'm even toying with the idea of running for governor.* Whatta yuh think?
May I take a moment to thank you for your vote of confidence through the years? Thanks sooooo much for your viewing support. People in this part of the country are the best people on the planet. They "get it!" My viewers (you) have been (and are) awesome. As I said, I'm not going to ugly away somewhere! This is home. I'm here to stay... for the duration! To be continued... Mr Tim

I really enjoyed Tim. Even when the weather was the same old stuff day after day he had a way of making it sound "new." This is especially true when it comes to the very early morning slot.
What a loss.
I wonder if the morons at channel 4 have realized that yet?

I will miss watching/listening to Tim Ross and his enthusiastic way of reporting the weather in the mornings as I get ready for work. His super personality was always a great way to start out the day and would make me smile. It was always fun to see what his tie would look like from day to day too. I can't believe that channel 4 would tell him he needed to change! Maybe they should have polled the public to find out our opinions, since we are the ones who watch. I am sad to find out that he is gone. They will have a hard time finding a person to replace someone as well-liked as him. Good luck Mr. Tim!

I really will miss Tim Ross. I am sad that he is no longer on the news. I think Aaron S. is the most boring fake newscaster ever and Tim brought some life to the show. the station made a big mistake in loosing Tim.

I think Channel 4 made a BIG mistake pushing Tim Ross to "quit"! If it wasn't for them running him in the ground with a hellish work schedule and them wanting him to change the way he tells the weather, then he would probably still be there! It wouldn't have hurt them to change Tim's schedule a little, plus his ever changing ties and goofy way of telling the weather is what the viewers liked anyways! I think everyone should boycott Channel 4 News and just watch another News station like Channel 2 or 5! I will miss watching you tell the weather, Tim Ross! Screw You, Channel 4!
Sincerely, Someone Who Will Be Watching Channel 5 News Now!!!

It's nice to finally know what happened to Tim Ross. I've been watching Channel 4 daily for a month now trying to catch a hint, but finally gave up and Googled Tim. I, too, will now be a Channel 5 viewer unless Tim gets a new gig elsewhere, not necessarily as a boycott, but just because the remaining team on Channel 4 is so boring. Tim has spoken at my church before, and knowing his personal values, I'd totally vote for him as governer! Good luck in all your pursuits Tim, and props to you for keeping your family first!

Hi Folks,
GREAT to hear from ALL of you. And I mean that sincerely. And thanks much to Jojo and the folks at Nashville.com... really appreciate their interest in my adventure... especially at unemployed times like these.
Anywhooo... just because a door closes (quickly and loudly) behind you doesn't mean that all of the creative juices stop flowing, right? So... here's a Mr Tim bonus... weather poetry. Where are you going to get quality entertainment like this at a price so affordable (and likely commensurate with what it's worth)?

Tim Ross is what made the morning show. I needed his lively and energetic presentation of the weather to get me going in the mornings. It is sad to miss something you did not realize was the "glue" to staying tuned in with C4 until he was gone. Sometimes change is good but not in this case. I am now losing interest in the station news/weather all together. Will probably be channel surfing for something that catches my interest; however, Tim cannot be replaced! Another Tim Ross fan sounding off...what a bummer!! All of the other channel 4 "celebrities" better take note that their separation notice is a heart beat away!! I've always considered channel 4 the best tv news station in nashville, but before Tim lost his job I noticed subtle changes that caused me to turn to channel 2 and 5 more often...so Tim is the clincher---no more channel 4 news.
Just to let channel 4 "decision-makers" know--I will contact early morning show advertisers and let them know I will boycott their products/services as long as they advertise on that channel.

I to, wondered what happened to Tim Ross. He was Here one day when I turned on my TV, like I do every morning, and Gone the next. He made the morning News complete with Holly and Aaron. I loved his style. We need more down to earth individuals, that come into our homes on a daily bases, that we can actually relate to. I believe that Channel 4 made a HUGE mistake. Tim Ross was one of the best in his field. Everyone loved him, even though they did not personally know him, he made you feel like you did. That is a good thing in todays society. Channel 4 owes all its viewers an explanation and apology. I also feel everyone should switch News channels until this is done, in honor of Tim Ross. Im so glad to finally know that Mr Tim is ok and yes he has my vote for Govenor.

When doesn't a little banter make the newscast team seem a little more friendly as we welcome them into our homes?
I am disappointed Channel 4 management chose to handle the situation this way. There could have been a moment to explain the disappearance of one of the morning crew... hope the rest of the team has taken note of the treatment given to one of their own.
Did they think people wouldn't miss Tim? wonder what happened? Sorry this doesn't shine a positive light on what once was my favorite news channel. Don't care how 'big' you are you don't treat people like this.
Best wishes Tim whatever you choose to do next, and hey, keep us posted!

I am so glad my husband found this forum about Mr. Tim. I kept wondering if Tim was on vacation/cruise and that's why he was not on tv. I told my husband that I had a feeling Tim was gone and not on vacation. There wasn't the farewell that they do for folks moving on.
My husband and I always thought c4 seemed to go overboard on their weather alerts (the length of time they were on and when they had to double-up on weather people). I would always wonder why Tim had to be there for soooo long. It didn't seem right that he be there for so long since he would be at work so early in the morning.
I miss the quirkiness and "No, Myrtle, that's not a misprint!" C4 should understand that us viewers LOVED the "Comedy Man!" It DID make a BIG difference on how I liked listening to the weather! He made it interesting and not dull. He was not a stuffy stiff person. He knew how to motivate you and keep your attention. The mornings haven't been the same since! Now I know why Holly and Aaron don't seem the same.
Shame on you, c4, for letting a person go because they were tired (you worked him to death)! He helped make the weather station what it was in the morning...fun, motivating, and made getting up in the morning easier.
Mr. Tim, if c4 would ask you to come back with changes on your hours of work, maybe not doing the noon weather, would you be willing to go back?
Can we petition c4 to bring you back with better working hours. Isn't working someone to no end a heath issue in itself (unhealthy working environment!)? Did any of the other weather peeps work as many hours as you did? Could they not work the schedule out better between the four of you? And, now there is the new guy (Johnathon) that didn't seem much like a news reporter. I told my husband he seemed more like a weather person...I was right!
Mr. Tim, please don't stay away. Keep us updated on your ventures and should you get hired with another news group, please let us (your fans) know where and when you'll be there.
Sincerely missing "Comedy Man,"

I was raised watching ch. 4. I have never felt quite right watching other news channels and I must say next to Bill Hall, I liked Tim Ross most out of all the weather ppl ch. 4 has had. It took a while but he grew on me. It was nice to see someone on the news that wasn't so stuffy or scripted- I mean he reported the weather not hard serious news! You would think the "powers that be" would have seen the value in the light-hearted moments he brought to the gloom and doom that is the news!

I cannot believe that Tim is gone. He was the only reason that my husband and I watched channel 4 in the mornings. As neither of us can stand Holly it was hard to wade thru her irritating voice and more irritating comments. WSMV made a huge mistake in trying to change Tim into someone he is not. He is a great speaker and his humor added significantly to the show. Now, we gladly watch channel 5.

We've been Tim fans since his WZTV days and hate the fact that he's no longer with Channel 4. What we wonder is if Channel 4 is actually downsizing. There has been no outside replacement for Tim or Dan Miller (as if they could actually be replaced), Josh Devine has apparently shifted from reporting to fill-in weatherman and where has Cynthia Williams been as of late? It really makes us wonder what is really going on with Channel 4.

I have been asked many times if I would ever be willing to return to Channel 4. The answer is, "Yes!" In fact, I communicated with WSMV management a couple of weeks ago about that very idea. I'm game... and I suggested we put our heads together, come at this thing from a different angle, and see if we can't figure out a schedule that would get everyone what they want and need to be happy, productive and successful. No reply. I guess I got my answer! :) Onward thru the fog... Mr Tim

I've wondered for weeks where you were Mr. Tim. I just can't watch News 4 Today now. I've been watching other morning shows, trying to pick a replacement. Nancy Van Camp, while she seems like a very nice lady, is extremely boring. I'd also like to tell channel 4 what they do need is to make Jennifer get an updated hairdo and lose those bangs in her eyes, it drives me crazy. You on the other hand were perfect on the show and my family misses you terribly! Thanks for being you!

I am very sad to hear channel 4 couldn't understand what Tim brought to the morning show. I only watched to see what he would do next. My husband never got worried about a storm unless Tim said that it was going to be a bad one or one to watch out for. I am glad I finally found out what happened to him. I have emailed them several times asking what happened no reply. oh well. Good Luck Tim whatever you do. Check into doing the weather on another channel I will watch.
That is the problem at channel 4 they only want certain ones to make jokes and make people laugh. They should take note life is to short to be soooo serious. Jennifer on evenings can't even get her words right most of the time.
Anyway you have my vote what ever you want to do. Shake Nashville up if anyone can do it YOU can.. You will be missed on the morning show!!

Yes... I thought I was out of town and missed something. I emailed C4 and they said he's been gone 4 over 8 weeks......DUH......and it was mentioned on the morning show after he left so they said.....but I wanted to know WHY! No reason or explanation given. I don't like what I see and although I like Holly and Aaron (some relation there) I miss Tim. He was funny and corny and a breath of fresh air in the morning. He would get my day started. They screwed up when they let him go. Channel 4 management is obviously not interested in what the public thinks. They need to ask us what we think. And Mr. Tim we think you made the morning show.
Ode to Mr. Tim:
He had his identity stolen
But now his identity's golden
Channel 4 didn't know
But he brought a glow
To all living rooms he'd beholden
We miss you Mr. Ross
It feels quite a loss
And although we can't change the present
We can say that their dumb
To let you move on
And that's something that we all will resent!!!!
His jokes and his ties
And all his alibis
Were something for us to look up to
Now that their gone
It's so boring and long
I think I'll change the Channel to 2.
If Channel 4 drops in the ratings
They can look at their on misgivings
They let him walk away
For a $ a day
And didn't have the sense to see fitting.
If they'd tossed a care toward the door
They wouldn't be sad no more
And all of us would be happy
But they are so stuffy
They act like it's nothing
And I hope they regret the crappy........(change) and that ain't no fish tail!!!!!!

We've been wondering where Mr. Tim went. I'm sorry to hear he'll no longer be on in the mornings. My better half and I have really missed him.
Good luck Mr. Tim. Too bad Corporate America management are typically such disappointing people. We've kept watching Channel 4 thinking maybe you were on vacation, but now I guess we'll find another morning show to watch.
I've personally liked Mr. Tim since the WZTV days years ago.
The pep in his step got me going in the mornings.

My Dad is 85 years old and has never revered a Metereologist like Tim Ross. He made him happy every day. My husband and I and my whole family have wondered where he is. I don't watch Channel 4 anymore. If that's the policy, that you work like a dog and get no respect, except to let you go that day, what a hurtful thing. We miss you, Mr. Tim.

Thank you Channel 4!
People visiting from out of town think he and Holly are doe-does.
I don't know who's goofier...Tim Ross or Holly Thompson?
Now if C4 would "can" her, we'd all be better off and I bet the ratings would go waaaay up.
It was was a two ring circus....now it's a one ringer. Poor Aaron Solomon has to still put up with Holly's kiddie behavior. She should be a kindergarten teacher...not a news anchor.
Thanks again C4! Now pull the trigger on Holly! Puleeeze!

Tim Ross we miss you .. Where did Steve Wrigley go ? They tried to dump Rudy ( Rudy is the best in town ) Tim Ross was a breath of fresh air ... made ya feel good, kinda like the " Paula Dean " of weather. He was funny, a little different .. worked well in this down home part of the world. News 4 is always looking to change, but usually does it wrong. I miss Holly, but I have found News 2 to be a very good team ... Good Luck Tim

Now C4 needs to get rid of the rest of their weather crew. They are boring as hell!
You got that right! After watching Channel 4 for years, we have changed to Channel 5 News, as has several family members and friends. It was bad enough losing Dan Miller when he passed away, now Tim is off the show too???? That Josh character can't hold a candle to Mr. Tim! Talk about BORING. Needless to say, you are missed lots Mr. Tim. BIG mistake. If someone wants to say you talked to much, it's Holly that talks too much. When she has guests on cooking, Holly interrupts them and that is down right rude!! Take care Mr.Tim and may God Bless you and your family. Goodbye and good ridence Channel 4.

Mr. Tim was fantastic!!!!!!!! I really enjoyed his human component. He did not appear to read script, but talked from his stock of knowledge and his heart. For the management at C4, you made a huge mistake by not keeping him around. I have not watched since he was gone...and will not do so. I fully support the "Mr. Tim for governor" thought. Have a great day and thanks for all that you did to make our mornings so great.

I'm glad and yet sad to find out what happened to Tim Ross. I thought perhaps he was sick with some terminal disease. Sorry to hear he is out of work and happy to know he is OK. I too will miss his quirky ways. He was the Willard Scott of Nashville and who doesn't love Willard? All of America loves Willard. Has Nashville lost its sense of humor?
Let's organize a take Tim to lunch day!

What happened to Channel 4's Tim Ross?
I have been so concerned where Mr. Tim has gone until I read on his blog today. I can not believe Channel 4 did him this way. He brought a very enjoyable deminsion to morning program. He is talented, and an upmost gentleman. He was personable and connected with we early morning risers. Now the morning news is boreing, redundant, without any local email pictures or tidbits of local town information. Channel 4 management certainly did not improve the morning programming by letting Mr. Tim go. Holly, Nancy and Aaron do a great job but Mr. Tim is MISSED BADLY!

Tim Ross was the best part of the morning news program. He was always informative while remaining entertaining and upbeat. We will miss him as part of our morning ritual. Too bad the station couldn"t try to help him rather than canning him. This is just the standard pattern how "older" american workers are being treated. The rest of the "younger" weather staff just can"t measure up to good "old" Tim. We will probably change our morning station choice now. Good luck channel 4

I became a huge fan of Mr.Ross when he was on C17 and was very happy to see him on C4 after he got screwed by the other channel. Now that he is no longer on C4, I dont watch it.I watch C5. I also dont see how C4 can say they are No.1 every day. They suck. I cant stand listening to them anymore. I certainly hope they reconsider and bring him back. Thats what made that channel unique. No boring weather man. I would always go to work smiling thinking of what Mr.Tim had said that morning and would watch my little tv until he did the noon weather too. Screw C4. They made a HUGE mistake. Personally, I think we should have a rally outside thier studio or a sit in or something to let them know how huge a mistake they made!!

Dan Miller, Bill Hall, Rudy Kalis now that was the Channel 4 that I loved. When Bill Hall retired I wondered who would ever be able to fill his shoes? Well, they did a great job the whole weather crew is great, but Bill Hall will forever be irreplaceable! So, when Tim Ross came on board at first it took a little getting used to his humor, but he grew on me more and more. I have looked forward to Tim every morning since. Now he's gone, at first I wondered where is Tim? I didn't see him for several days and then a couple of weeks. I thought he was taking a well deserved vacation. So, I did what everyone else has done I googled Tim Ross and found out the sad news. At first I thought if Channel 4 fired Tim they must have their head in their ----! Now that I see that Tim let them know he was going to leave I feel sorry for Channel 4 not Tim! Tim Ross will land on his feet, and no doubt be better off than he was with Channel 4! As for Channel 4 wanting to change Tim's way of delivering the weather they need to loosen up, and appreciate things in life that are not always scripted. Tim made the whole morning show more enjoyable for our family and he will be sorely missed! A word of advice for Channel 4 sometimes change is not better go back to some archived shows and bring back what worked then. If you do not replace Dan Miller with another Dan Miller soon especially after losing a guy like Tim you will continue to lose viewers. By letting Tim go before he worked out a notice says alot about the way your company is run? I've said my peace, and feel alot better for it! This is the first time I have ever made a post to anything in my life, but I felt a need to say I miss Tim Ross! and Channel 4 has lost another viewing family. I make it a point not to even turn it on Channel 4 now I go straight to Tennesse mornings on Fox 17 with Charlie Chase! Tim keep up the good work!

I am a 28 year old female and I will tell you I loved to watch Tim Ross every morning while I got my daughter ready for school. At time just had to listen to the t.v. and not watch but always loved it when he would make a joke or be a little goofy. He made me chuckle. He is greatly missed and channel 4 news has not been the same since his leaving!!! I am glad to hear why he was going to leave and now that I have a better understanding of what was physically going on I wish him all the luck in the world!!! It take a great and special person to touch all of these people that I see he had in his years of forecasting and this is truly amazing. He is truly a special person all the way around...

You have no idea how much you will be missed in our household. The Weather will never be the same. It is a shame that all your hard work was not appreciated by the network in the end. Most importantly, you were appreciated by all those who matter the most. Your audience.
I have no doubt you will be successful with anything you do. You will continue to touch the lives of anyone you meet.
You are a very special person,

http://nashville.com/forums/images/tim1.jpgWow!
Mr Tim

I too miss Mr. Tim. Maybe it's just me, but I'm a little confused. It implies throughout this thread that Mr. Tim was fired, that we should boycott WSMV, etc. etc. However, reading Mr. Tim's post a couple of times, when you boil it all down, does he not say that he quit because they wanted him to change some of his behaviors? Well, if that's the case, welcome to the real world! In my 25 years with the same company, I've been through a number of management and cultural shifts, and I had choices to make; either get with the program, or get out. I decided to get with the program, but had I chose to leave, as Mr. Tim apparently did, I would not then expect anyone to boycott my company! When I first started reading the posts, I was extremely angry at Channel 4 because Holly and Aaron made the brief announcment that Mr. Tim had left at his own choosing. Until I thoroughly read Mr. Tim's thread, I thought they had lied. But apparently not. Am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing something - big. Mr. Tim obviously had a huge and loyal following, there's no question about that. As for the news station, it "appears" they were not happy with the way Mr. Tim conducted the news / weather (this info gathered from reading this forum). OK, so that's entirely their right, sure I get it. But, now that Mr. Tim has left and what I'm sure is just a small number of his huge fan base commenting here and lots saying they are going to boycott the news station and watch something else, well, is entirely their right (remember, this is America - FREEDOM and we have choices - wha whooo!).
Great for you to be with the same company for 25 years! However, if you had to change who you are - for a company, well, your choice. Not everyone succumbs to these pressures and I for one, am thrilled to see that Mr. Tim will change for no one. And now that Mr. Tim has a Daily Blog on Nashville.com - http://www.nashville.com/mrtim/ I know I can get still get my "Mr Tim Fix" every day! This of course makes me happy and I also know the owners of Nashville.com, the Castello Brothers, are very happy about it too!

I'm still not sure what I've missed, but thanks anyway for your reply. I haven't changed who I am. There's a big difference in changing who you are versus showing some flexibility. Being stubborn and inflexible has led many a person to the free cheese line! If some of the players for our mighty TN Titans don't change some things, some of them are going to be out of a job. Will that be the franchise's fault? Please hear me loud and clear....I REALLY do miss Mr. Tim, tremendously, but that's the very reason I'm not coming across as all warm and fuzzy. Because he's hung up on principle, because he won't stop some of the silliness on air, we are the ones to suffer by him not being there.

The ones here on this forum are clearly stating they simply miss Mr. Tim and his quirky style. Let's just say for the heck of it that he did change his ways in order to please the station owners, that would then be just letting down his fans and I can bet a whole bunch of us would still be left asking the same question - "What happened to Mr Tim?!" Us fans like Mr Tim for who he is - remember there are plenty of other stations to get the weather - but we chose Mr Tim! I can see how people would be angry at the TV station - that's a no brainer. The station wanted to change a personality which was welcomed into our homes every day -and now we're without. Whose fault is that? Certainly NOT Mr.Tim's...

My husband and I are relieved to hear that Tim is not sick. We thought he was out on sick leave. We are so sad that Channel 4 would chose to go in a different direction. We always looked forward to seeing him in the morning and then again with Holly at noon. We love Dan, Nancy, and all the other weather people, too, but Tim was always like an invited family member in our home! He will be missed. Is it possible WSMV would change their mind? We have switched to channel 5 now. We don't like channel 4's "different direction".

Since I retired I don't see the early news all the time, but, when I do, I certainly miss Tim. He is the type of personality one needs to get up and get going in the morning. I started watching Ch4 when we moved to the central Tennessee area from the Chicago area. I hate the 24-hour coverage during storms on all 3 main channels. I don't see a need for it or the need to have every weather person involved. The only weather person/people that should be needed to cover any kind of weather at any given time is the one/ones on duty at the time or they aren't worth what they are paid. There are/were only 2 weather people on the Nashville channels that I can stomach and those are/were Tim Ross and Charlie Neese. Dan Thomas is okay but not for the morning slot. Someone with Tim's wit is needed for the early morning hours. I can't stand any of the female weather people on Ch4 and Ch5 weather people are for the birds except for Charlie. I have not watched Ch2 yet but may switch to them if they are worth watching. I, too, have worked the early and late shifts in the past and they do wreck havoc with your health and family life, so hoping Tim gets a position that makes since healthwise and lifewise and lets us all see his wonderful personality again.
I, too, totally don't understand the person (if you can use that term) who applauded Tim's leaving. I feel sorry for anyone who would wish bad to anyone, especially in this day and age. Giving notice and it being accepted and carried out in the same day is not a trait that should be applauded in corporate America.

As so many others have said... I too wondered what happened to Tim Ross in the mornings and so finally googled for the answer.
Holly, Aaron and Tim were such a great "family" in the early morning and Tim brought such a fun energy. I have watched Ch. 4 news since i was a child and like so many Nashvillians, miss Dan Miller. The direction the station seems to be going since then seems to have a void of personality and sense of family. The loss of Tim from the morning team cements this feeling.
Tim, you are missed in the mornings and we wish you the best!

WSMV in the am just isn't the same. Tim was perfect but can understand the grueling schedule. Too bad "parttime" is not in the vocab. Or 'fill-in" especially for the others as this state certainly has some uncertain weather. Am so happy to hear that he is not leaving the area. Will look forward at some time to seeing him again.

Without Tim Ross, c4's morning show is just like all the rest. Boring. As an older guy myself, I really appreciated his old time, folksy style. He made everyone feel like a friend. Sorry c4 management can't comprehend anything outside of the cookie-cutter mold they think is the only way things can be done. The main reason I wound up watching c4 news was because of guys like Dan Miller, Bill Hall and Tim Ross. Now the blandness of unimaginative conformity wins again.

Mr. Tim I missed you when we moved back to Iowa last year. We came back to TN for a visit last night and turned on Ch. 4 this morning and lo and behold....NO MR. TIM !!! I am heartbroken! HISS BOO to Channel 4 !! I still have a tape of Mr. Tim talking about the picture I sent in of my iris that bloomed late in the fall.....I was so thrilled. I hope you find a new career that will be even better than the last and wish you well for the future!!!
Shona
from Iowa
Tim,
Your weather segments were a nice break from all of the "real news" and crime reporting in the Nashville area. What we the viewer want in morning news is seriousness. Since you were let go, we no longer watch that morning show in this household or in our office. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and would definitely get my vote for Governor.
Good luck Tim.
Chet Marlow
We also have changed morning shows. The local mornings are not meant to be all serious, that is what the major cable news is for. Tim, best of luck in your future endeavors. Maybe you will end up on one of the competing news stations.

I wish him the best but, honestly, I always muted the TV or changed the channel when he came on. He was just a little too whacky for me, first thing in the morning. I guess I never thought he was as funny as he seemed to think he was. It is a shame that it ended the way it did but I think Channel 4 is better now.

Watched Channel 4 every morn until Mr Tim was no longer on there. Waited thought maybe he was on vacation. When figured out he was gone and no one on the news cast had mentioned him or what had happen my Husband and I switched to channel 5 morn news. Holly and Aaron are enjoyable to watch, but in my opinon it took all three to make watching worthwhile. We miss watching you tell the weather Mr Tim.

You guys are right. THe rest of the Channel 4 weather team is BORING, BORING, BORING. THey are so slow to get out the information, especially during severe storms, and their tedious, untalented presentation make it excruitiating to watch. Also, I agree with a previous poster...Aaron Solomon is the most boring person on TV...and I'm sick to death of his "cool school" banter. Tired of the fake smiles on the morning show, too. Channel 2 and 5 and Fox are much better....

Tim made the usually boring early moring show on channel 4 a fresh breath. He added a dimension that Holly can't top. And Arron????
The other channels have benefitted from Tim's departure. I now enjoy channel 5.

We are completely disappointed in the way your station handled Mr. Tim*s departure. He is someone who brought life to your early morning broadcast which was sorely needed. Aaron and Holly are not a good fit together. Something needs to change with that situation. Now I generally watch channel 2 or 5 since your early broadcast is not longer interesting.

your conservative values will always be in vogue. please run for govenor and kick global warming bredison out of there!
http://nashville.com/forums/images/tim1.jpgWow!
Mr Tim

What's the point before 6:00am?
As a Nashville native, I remember back when Ralph Emery would start broadcasting at 6:00am. That was just about the perfect time to start broadcasting.
Over the past several years the morning "news" time slot has advanced up to what?
4:00am?
Really? is the 4:00am demographic interested in listening to new car commercials screaming loud, or in paying attention to some poor sap in front of a camera doing his/her best to appear wide awake and delivering "hard hitting news"?
Puuuleeze....give me a break.
I can't possibly understand how these poor people put in such hours, day after day, week after week, month after month.
And for what?
Oh no...!!!!!
There's a thunderstorm moving into Brentwood.....let's bring in our whole "team of experts".....
LOL
It all seems like such nonsense.

Been missing Tim, but not Holly. I'm sure she's a very nice person, and she's definitely pretty, but I feel like her style is patronizing. WSMV has lost it's vibrancy. The loss of Miller, then Ross, has sucked most of the convivial, relaxed, and often jovial personality to the show. If they did not like Tim's approach they should take a look at what Al Roker is doing for the national news.
My viewing has changed to either 2 or 5, occassionally Fox. I find all three lack the personalities that give them life, with the exception of Rudy at sports on 4 and Hope on 5 there is little that gives the news any dynamics, and I'm not a real sports fan, so what does that say. I'm as often as not to watch the national news on WSM or CNN.
I certainly hope Tim gets a spot. His brand of presentation truly gives live back into whatever he does.

Tim,
Not the same anymore since you left the show. Actually has gotten dull. We have been viewers of the morning show for years but, with all due respect to the rest of the team, the show has lost it's edge. Best of luck to you in your new direction and look forward to seeing you around town!!

Not to be mean or anything, but I couldn't stand Tim Ross on WSMV. He was super annoying and always sneaking little conservative commentary in whenever he could. It was extremely irritating. I avoided WSMV when he was on, but now I watch it all the time and it is so much more enjoyable. Now he's on 99.7 on the radio sometimes and he's as annoying as ever. All he does is downplay impending weather events. This severe weather we're supposed to have tonight - today he said it isn't going to be what it's being built up to be so don't worry about it. He said that last about the snowstorm we got that hit at rush hour a few weeks ago and that was a mess. He should just go retire for good and sit in his house watching Fox news all the time.

I couldn't agree with you more. Glad to know others found him annoying and condescending. Bet he does sit around watching Fox (or is it SHEEP?) News all the time. Dan Thomas and Paul Heggen are *much* better broadcast meteorologists than Tim Ross.
