i am a singer but not a songwriter. how do i go about making a go of it in nashville? everything i read says that there aren't many opportunities for those of us who do not write our own material.
thanks,
JD

Are you in Nashville? If not, you need to be here to start singing demos - that's how you'll get noticed. There are a ton of studios - so you need to get about 4 or 5 of your songs recorded and market yourself. You have to build up your reputation and if you're good, you'll get a lot of business singing demos (which means a lot of exposure) just by word of mouth.
Also, go to demosinger.com and put your recordings on this site. Songwriters use this site a lot to find singers and so do labels and publishers.
Good luck!
